SEVERAL REGIONAL LEADERS IN TURKEY DISMISSED FOR ATTEMPTS TO ESTABLISH RELATIONS WITH ARMENIA

The Turkish authorities and the Azeri embassy in Ankara have information on Khars and Igdir some forces’ campaign for opening of the Armenian-Turkish border and establishment of trade relations on the governmental level between the two states. As “Arminfo” agency reports, Azeri ambassador to Turkey Mamed Aliyev stated that at the interview with journalists and added that to prevent this, all the necessary measures were being taken. The ambassador expressed regrets regarding the fact that some Azeris residing in the Turkish territory boundary with Armenia speak for the economic cooperation with Armenians. The Azeri diplomat stated, toward these citizens, “going against the policy of the official Ankara, the Turkish authorities are taking corresponding measures and the leaders of several East regions of the country are already dismissed for the attempts to establish trade relations with Armenia”. The Azeri embassy also takes some actions aiming at neutralization of the policy contrary to the interests of the Turkish government, the ambassador noted. By the way, all those attempts were unsuccessful, Mamed Aliyev thinks. According to him, the official Ankara keeps its principal position regarding that issue and any cooperation with Armenia until the “occupation of the Azeri territories” is stopped is out of question.
