Over the past week, more than twenty new organizations have joined the growing coalition of ethnic, religious, educational, and human and civil rights groups supporting US Congressional Genocide Resolution, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). Among those adding their voice to the 34 Senators and more than 100 Representatives already backing this legislation (S.Res.164 and H.Res.193) were Consultative Council of Jewish Organizations (New York, NY), Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Central Florida (Maitland, FL), Congress of Russian Americans (San Francisco, CA), Center for Christian-Jewish Understanding (Fairfield, CT), Conflict Resolution, Resource, and Research Institute (Tacoma, WA), Council for the development of French in Louisiana (Lafayette, LA), National Albanian American Council (Washington, DC), Slovenian Research Center of America (Willoughby Hills, OH), and others. The resolution commemorating the 15-th anniversary of US implementation of the Genocide Convention citing the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey as one of the instances of past genocides, awaits consideration by the House and the Senate.
