Any aggravation of the situation around Iraq may negatively tell on the state of affairs in the region as a whole. Today Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian expressed such opinion speaking of the military operation being prepared against Iraq. In the minister’s words, Yerevan follows the situation attentively and hopes that military operations against Iraq will not begin and the problem will be solved via peaceful means. Furthermore, Oskanian noted, Armenia cannot remain indifferent towards the fate of the officers of the Armenian embassy in Baghdad, as well as the Armenian community of Iraq.
