CONCLUDING AGREEMENT ON PARALLEL WORK OF ENERGY SYSTEMS OF ARMENIA AND GEORGIA IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO VARIANCE IN TECHNICAL PARAMETERS

Concluding an agreement on parallel work of energy systems of Georgia with those of Armenia or Azerbaijan is not possible due to the variance of their technical parameters. As reported by Prime News, fuel and energy minister of Georgia David Mirtskhulava stated it. However he also noted that if there appeared a large deficit of electric energy in winter, the opportunity of direct import of electric power from these countries to Georgia was being considered. At the same time the minister told that Georgia was planning to conclude a contract on parallel work of energy systems with “Unified Energy System” Russian JSC. In David Mirtskhulava’s words, after singing of the agreement Georgia will be able to receive a certain amount of Russian electric power in winter and to repay the debt in summer owing to electric energy being produced by hydropower plants.
