TURKISH FOREIGN MINISTER LOOKING FORWARD TO NEW MEETING WITH HIS ARMENIAN COLLEAGUE IN SEPTEMBER

Progress on Turkish-Armenian reconciliation is a top priority for the US, the letter from Assistant Secretary of State Paul Kelly in reply to Congressman Frank Pallone’s request concerning the recent American-Turkish relations ran. As reported by the Congressional Armenian Caucus, P. Kelly noted that US Secretary Colin Powell and Under Secretary Mark Grossman specifically addressed the issue of the opening of the land border in course of the meeting with Turkish foreign minister Abdullah Gul July 24. In the words of the Under Secretary, Abdulla Gul has given a positive evaluation to the results of the Madrid negotiations with Vardan Oskanian and is looking forward to meeting with him again in September during the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.
