Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian, playing in a draw with Dutch Jaan Smeets, has fixed the second result with 7.5 points in Corus Chess 2009.

Victory in the 13th tour would secure Aronian’s championship. However, the draw put him on the second position along with Sergei Movsesian (Slovakia) and Teymour Radjabov (Azerbaijan).

Ukraine’s Sergei Karyakin was recognized the winner of the tournament with 8 points.
