The border service of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) will deploy additional forces on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan, FSB director Alexander Bortnikov said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, November 20, TASS reports.
"In accordance with the decision to ensure the border security of Armenia, measures to maintain peace in Nagorno-Karabakh, and at the request of the Armenian side, additional 188 servicemen and the required amount of equipment was allocated to the border department of the FSB in of Armenia," Bortnikov said.
Bortnikov noted that the Azerbaijani side has been informed about the decision.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev have signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Karabakh (Artsakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan has said he has agreed to the deal signed by Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
