Ifax: Armenia-Russia-Azerbaijan summit could happen in January

A trilateral meeting with the participation of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan could be held in Moscow in the near future, Interfax.az cited a diplomatic source as saying on Tuesday, January 5.

"A trilateral meeting of the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia with the President of the Russian Federation is expected to take place in Russia," the diplomatic source reportedly said.

According to him, the summit may take place after the New Year holidays, and one of the possible dates for the meeting is January 11.

If confirmed, the meeting of Azeri leader Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will be the first after the end of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
