New type of tulip in the Netherlands named after Mount Aragats

A new type of white tulip in the Netherlands was named after Mount Aragats in honor of the 103rd anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia and ahead of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence.

The new type of tulip was bred by Maveridge International, a Dutch company involved in the country's nursery and floriculture production industry.

Armenia's ambassador to the Netherlands Tigran Balayan attended the flower-naming ceremony in the company headquarters and toured the company premises to learn more about their activity and business.

Balayan and Maveridge owner Klaas Peter De Geus then discussed the possibility of further cooperation and of establishing production in Armenia for the Eurasian market.
