ARMENIAN AND IRANI ENERGY MINISTERS SIGNED MEMORANDUM “ON COOPERATION IN POWER INDUSTRY SPHERE”

Memorandum “On cooperation in the sphere of the power industry” was signed by ministers of energy of Armenia Armen Movsisian and Iran Habib Ollah Bitaraf in Yerevan today. The document stipulates the terms of realization of the three key programs in the sphere of the power industry. It is stipulated that the construction of the Agarak switching substation worth $ 585 thousand will be finished until end of August. “Sanir” Irani Company has already rendered the main part of the sum. The memorandum also stipulates that the agreement on construction of the Agarak-Shinuair “Syunik-Center” high-voltage transmission line that is planned to be finished in 15 months will be signed in late July. Toward this end, “Sanir” will also render $ 10 mln. In future, the Armenian party will reimburse for the Irani investments with power supplies. The memorandum also states the work schedule regarding the technical and economic assessment of Araks river hydroengineering potential. After the signing ceremony, Movsisian and Bitaraf noted “Armenian-Irani cooperation in the sphere of power industry is an important incentive for the development of regional cooperation”.
