CE SECRETARY GENERAL CALLED EXPERIENCE OF ARMENIAN-IRANIAN RELATIONS VERY INTERESTING FOR EUROPE

Council of Europe secretary general Walter Schwimmer called the experience of establishing relations gained by Christian Armenian and Islamic Iran interesting both in historical and cultural respects. In his speech in Yerevan State University the CE secretary general welcomed Armenia’s proposal to hold in Yerevan a conference entitled “Dialogue of Civilizations”. “If Armenia can help us engage in a constructive and durable dialogue with Iran, it will be a big achievement,” – Schwimmer stated. According to the information possessed by “De-Facto” agency, the Armenian party has suggested holding the aforementioned conference with Iran’s participation within the program on struggle against international terrorism worked out by CE secretary general. Presumably, the conference may be held this autumn.
