Tensions still remain on the line of contact between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas told the 9th meeting of the secretaries of the CIS Security Councils on Wednesday, November 17.
“Trilateral agreements, enshrined in the statement of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on November 9, 2020, made it possible to end the bloodshed in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, despite the steps taken, there is still tension on the line of contact between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides,” Zas said, Sputnik Armenia reports.
“With regard to regional security, particularly in CSTO's zone of responsibility, I have to note that the level of military threat to the CSTO member states is not decreasing."
In clashes launched by Azerbaijan on Tuesday, the Armenian side has confirmed the death of 1 serviceman, while 13 others have been captured by Azerbaijan. Two combat positions too have gone under the control of Azeri forces, 24 Armenian troops have gone missing.
