On March 20, the delegation led by the Armenian parliament President Alen Simonyan took part in the inaugural ceremony of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Nusa Dua, Bali, the parliament's press service reveals.
Speakers of parliaments of 110 nations represent their countries in the Assembly, participating in separate meetings and debates for the MPs and Secretaries General.
The main direction of the Summit is the series of the debates on Getting to Zero: Mobilizing Parliaments to Act on Climate Change. The agenda is designed to offer a platform on exchanging ideas and opinions over the draft resolution on the role of parliaments in the protection of human rights, international trafficking and migration policy issues to be adopted in the 145th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The parliamentarians will also meet at a special meeting on the development of international cooperation of judicial persecution against corruption, as well as reports on the attitude towards the peace processes in different countries.
Within the Assembly, a workshop dedicated to the universal ban on nuclear weapon tests is envisaged.
