The European Union has denied that a monitoring mission deployed in Armenia has been observing the road leading to the Lachin Corridor connecting the country to Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).
"There’s a video circulating about an EUMCAP patrol observing the road leading to the Lachin Corridor," EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar said on Twitter on December 16.
"The patrol was then at a checkpoint about 1,2km from the [Armenian-Azerbaijani] border. EUMCAP, in line with its mandate, operates exclusively on [Armenian] territory and did not enter the Corridor."
For six days now, the key road has been blocked by Azerbaijanis who claim to be environmentalists. Azerbaijan had also deprived the people of Karabakh of gas supplies.
