ARMENIAN AND GEORGIAN PARLIAMENTS TO RATIFY AGREEMENTS “ON FRIENDSHIP, COOPERATION AND MUTUAL AID”

In September the Armenian and Georgian parliaments will simultaneously ratify the agreement “On friendship, cooperation and mutual aid between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Georgia,” signed in the course of President Eduard Shevardnadze’s visit to Armenia in 2001. This was announced in the course of the fourth meeting of the Armenian-Georgian inter-parliamentary commission. The parties noted that a number of other agreements between the two countries are at the stage of discussion. They are “On cooperation on border issues,” “On cooperation in the sphere of using port structures of Georgia,” “On border trade.” Georgian parliament Vice-Speaker Vakhtang Kolbaya noted that special attention was paid to building roads. In his words, the question of cargo transportation is close to settlement. In the course of the meeting the projects of regional cooperation, in particular, in the spheres of energy, transport and industry were also discussed.
