Turkish Super Leage club Trabzonspor made an offer to sign Eduard Spertsyan, midfielder for the Armenian national team and Russian club Krasnodar, Factor.am reports, citing Turkish media.
In January, Trabzonspor proposed a transfer deal worth over €10 million, including bonuses and a resale percentage. The club also received permission to negotiate with the player, as Spertsyan has long expressed his desire to move to Europe.
However, the transfer did not materialize. According to reports, political reasons played a role in the decision. Media sources claim that Spertsyan discussed the matter with Armenia’s Football Federation leadership and national team interim coach Suren Chakhalyan, who opposed the move.
Armenia's national team currently has no permanent head coach. Suren Chakhalyan was appointed interim manager in November and has led the team in two matches.
According to Transfermarkt, Eduard Spertsyan’s market value is estimated at €20 million. Krasnodar has previously rejected multiple offers from European clubs, some exceeding Trabzonspor’s reported bid.
