The court proceedings in Baku against former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan have resumed, with the defense contesting the impartiality of the presiding judges.
Vardanyan, currently imprisoned in Baku under fabricated charges, filed a complaint supported by his attorney Abraham Berman.
According to Minval.az, the court left the complaint unanswered. The public prosecutor claimed that the defendant’s rights had been respected and that the defense had failed to present evidence proving bias or conflict of interest by the judges.
After deliberation, the court announced that the complaint would not be reviewed, stating it had been “left without examination.”
In a previous audio message relayed through his family, Vardanyan emphasized that he has always acted in accordance with his moral principles, even in the most difficult circumstances. He had gone on a 23-day hunger strike to protest the ongoing trial.
“I knew what I was facing. I was prepared—and still am—for even harsher conditions. I am not a victim and I do not need pity, because this is a conscious decision,” he stated.
