Arsenal Tivat banned 10 years for match-fixing vs Alashkert

UEFA has banned Montenegro's Arsenal Tivat football club from European competitions for 10 years due to a suspected fixed match against Alashkert. Several club officials and players received lifetime or 10-year bans, depending on their involvement.

According to the Associated Press, the controversial game took place during the 2023/24 UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers in Yerevan against Alashkert, prompting an investigation by UEFA, reports RFE/RL.

The first leg in Yerevan ended 1–1, but Alashkert won 6–1 in Montenegro, with two goals scored during stoppage time. Alongside individual sanctions, Arsenal Tivat was fined €500,000.

UEFA did not detail the club’s specific actions related to match-fixing. FIFA has recommended UEFA extend the sanctions globally, barring Arsenal Tivat from all international club competitions.
