Eduard Spertsyan, midfielder of the Armenian national football team and captain of FC Krasnodar, expressed confidence ahead of Armenia’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Portugal and Ireland. Speaking to RB Sport, he stressed that the Armenian team is not intimidated by their upcoming opponents.
“In Armenia, we’re not afraid of Portugal or Ireland. Armenian players will fight until the end in the upcoming matches in Yerevan,” Spertsyan said.
Regarding Armenia’s chances of reaching the World Cup finals, Spertsyan acknowledged that it’s not always possible to get results against top-tier teams. “But we are determined to play our football and give our best,” he added.
Armenia is scheduled to face Portugal in Yerevan on September 6 and Ireland on September 9.
