Grandmaster Vladimir Akopian has been named runner-up of the 2025 U.S. Veterans Chess Championship.
Akopian delivered an impressive performance, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament. He scored 5.5 points out of a possible 9, making him the only participant to complete the event without a single loss, according to the Chess Federation of Armenia.
However, after tiebreaks, Grandmaster Alexander Fishbein—who also scored 5.5 points—was declared the winner.
