Azerbaijan says ‘Zangezur corridor’ road 95% complete

Authorities in Baku have announced that construction of the Horadiz–Jabrayil–Zangilan–Agbend highway, considered by Azerbaijan as part of the so-called “Zangezur corridor,” is now 95% complete.

According to the information provided, the main section of the highway spans 123.6 kilometers and is nearly finished. The road is reportedly being built to modern standards and strict quality requirements, APA reports.

The highway’s width ranges between 14 and 21 meters, while the overall roadbed width is between 21.5 and 29.5 meters. It is designed for 4 to 6 lanes of traffic.

“These parameters ensure smooth and comfortable driving for vehicles,” the report states.

On September 10, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told parliament: “There can be no infrastructure within Armenia called the ‘Zangezur corridor.’ However, I cannot rule out that due to objective and subjective factors, the term has become so popular in Azerbaijan that it may label any infrastructure on its own territory, such as something linked to the Trump route, with any name, even a person’s name. But that has nothing to do with Armenia’s sovereign territory or agenda. Even if they swear it does, don’t believe it.”
