Berezovski leaves Armenia staff after Melikyan appointment

Former Armenia national team goalkeeper and longtime goalkeeping coach Roman Berezovski explained why he departed the coaching staff following the appointment of Yeghishe Melikyan as head coach.

Berezovski said that in late July, news spread about a head coach change. “John left the team, and soon after, Melikyan was appointed. A few days later, he called me and said he already had a goalkeeping coach, someone he had worked with for a long time. After that call, it was clear to me that it was unlikely I would remain in the national team’s coaching staff,” Berezovski told Metaratings.ru.

He had been part of the national team’s staff from 2020 to 2025.

Yeghishe Melikyan was appointed head coach of Armenia on August 6, with a contract running until November 2026.
