Karen Giloyan becomes president of Urartu basketball club

Karen Giloyan, former Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, has been appointed president of the Urartu basketball club, the club’s press office announced.

Under Giloyan’s leadership, the club plans to bring fresh energy and new strategies to the upcoming Armenian A-League championship, set to begin in November.

“Our goal is to restore Urartu’s former stature and reputation, build a competitive team, and deliver entertaining basketball for fans. I’m confident we can achieve new success together,” Giloyan said.

The club’s full roster and coaching staff will be announced in the coming days.

In 2018, Giloyan was a founding member of the initiative group for the Eurasian Basketball League and was elected president of the league.
