Aliyev thanks “brotherly states” for backing Karabakh plans

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has publicly thanked what he called “brotherly countries” for supporting the “restoration of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.” He made the statement on X , according to Minval.az .

A photo attached to the post shows Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán among the attendees of the Turkic States summit held in Gabala, suggesting Hungary is among the nations Aliyev was referring to.

“I once again thank the brotherly countries for supporting the restoration of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. The Azerbaijani people will never forget this brotherly support,” Aliyev wrote.

Meanwhile, the systematic destruction of Armenian heritage continues in areas of Nagorno-Karabakh that fell under Azerbaijani control after the 44-day war. Entire villages like Karin Tak and whole neighborhoods in Stepanakert, including government buildings and residential homes with all their belongings, have been demolished without compensation to displaced residents. Armenian churches and monasteries are being razed, inscriptions in Armenian are erased, and when removal is not possible, the heritage is rebranded as “Caucasian Albanian.”
