Moscow welcomes momentum in Armenia-Turkey dialogue

Moscow is satisfied with the intensifying dialogue between Yerevan and Ankara, which initially began with Russian mediation, stated Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin during a reception marking Armenia’s Independence Day.

He recalled that the first round of Armenia-Turkey talks took place in Moscow in January 2022, Sputnik Armenia reported.

“We support the swift reconciliation of both parties and remain ready to assist our Armenian and Turkish partners in this process,” Galuzin said.

On September 24, 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met at the Turkish House in New York, reaffirming their willingness to continue the process without preconditions and to inject new momentum into bilateral relations.

Earlier in September, Turkey’s special envoy Serdar Kılıç visited Armenia, where he was received by Armenia’s Deputy Speaker and special envoy Ruben Rubinyan at the Margara border checkpoint. During their sixth meeting, they discussed key normalization issues, including the implementation of the border-crossing agreement reached on July 1, 2022.
