Mariam Mkrtchyan has completed her third and final norm for the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title at the 2025 European Team Chess Championship, according to the Armenian Chess Federation. She also achieved her first norm for the International Master (IM) title.
Competing on board two, Mkrtchyan scored 6.5 points out of 9 possible games and increased her rating by 35 points. Her current FIDE rating stands at 2353.
“As Mariam’s rating now exceeds the required threshold of 2300, she will be awarded the Woman Grandmaster title,” the federation noted.
Mkrtchyan is the 2022 Armenian Women’s Champion and a former U18 World and European girls’ chess champion. She currently represents Armenia’s national women’s team.
