Cholakyan, Grigoryan win U23 European titles

At the U23 European Weightlifting Championships, Garnik Cholakyan claimed the title in the men’s 60 kg category.

Cholakyan successfully lifted 115 kg and 120 kg in the snatch, earning him the gold medal. He continued his strong form in the clean and jerk with successive lifts of 140 kg, 145 kg, and 147 kg. His combined total of 267 kg secured him the U23 European champion title, according to the Weightlifting Federation.

Aleksandra Grigoryan, representing the Armenian women’s national team, also became a champion.

Competing in the 58 kg category, Grigoryan, the reigning European champion, succeeded in all three snatch attempts, lifting 85 kg, 89 kg, and 91 kg, and was awarded the gold medal for the snatch event.

In the clean and jerk, she lifted 112 kg, 116 kg, and 123 kg, outperforming her rivals once again. With a combined total of 214 kg, Grigoryan clinched the U23 European champion title.

Seyran Khudanyan, also in the 60 kg weight class, lifted 110 kg and 115 kg in the snatch, earning a silver medal. However, he managed only 135 kg in the clean and jerk. His total of 250 kg placed him fifth overall in the competition.
