Armenia national football team captain Eduard Spertsyan responded to the 9:1 defeat to Portugal in the World Cup qualifiers, writing on his Telegram channel: “This also happens in football. But such matches give us even more motivation to grow. We do not give up and keep working. Everything is still ahead. Thanks to everyone who supported us.”
Portugal’s victory secured their qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals. Armenia finished at the bottom of their group.
