Situation in some areas of Armenian aviation is quite alarming, Dmitry Atbashyan, President of the National Aeronautical Association (NAA) of Armenia told a press conference today in Yerevan.
“The first step is to draw attention to the human resources. The school, which prepared good professionals, stopped operating”, president of NAA said.
According to him, despite the fact that Armenia’s national carrier, Armavia is evolving, however, it has limited capacity. “Armavia has no cargo planes, which would ensure the export of Armenian goods. In Soviet times Armenia had exported bout 80-100 thousand tons of agricultural products. This factor directly affects the economy of Armenia “, Dmitry Atbashyan stressed.
According to him, long distance planes also contribute to the development of aviation. “Today, our carriers are negotiating on this issue. Imagine that the Yerevan-Los Angeles flight makes 2-3 landings. Each landing increases the time of a flight for 40 minutes, which can not affect the price of tickets, ” president of NAA said.
