ISRAEL OFFENDED BY TURKEY READY TO RECOGNIZE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

Official Tel-Aviv is ready to recognize the fact of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in response to official Ankara harsh statements addressed to the Israeli military. As reported by “Arminfo” agency referring to Turkish mass media, Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit’s statement that Israel “is committing Palestinian genocide” caused serious crisis in relations between the two allies – Ankara and Tel-Aviv. In his turn Israeli foreign ministry reported of its profound disappointment at Ecevit’s statement. Besides, US Jewish lobby known for support of Turkey in the Congress intends to express protest to Turkey. In the opinion of observers, harsh statements of the Turkish side addressed to Israel can bring both to recognition of the fact of the Armenian Genocide and Turkey losing the Jewish lobby support in Washington, which will result in US Congress recognition of the fact of the genocide.
