The Armenian National Committee of America will strive for the same volume of American aid to Armenia. ANCA director Aram Hamparian has stated this at the press conference in Yerevan. It should be reminded that the White House has addressed with an initiative to reduce the American aid for Armenia from $90 mln to $70 mln in 2002. The ANCA director believes the Armenian lobby will manage to persuade the congressmen to approve the volume of the aid exceeding the one proposed by the administration. This is the way it was last year. According to Hamparian, the congressmen cooperating with the ANCA intend to strive for US direct aid to Karabakh. The Armenian lobby also assists in the development of American-Armenian economic cooperation. The ANCA pays attention not only to contacts of Armenia and the USA federal bodies but also helps to establish relations between Yerevan and the capitals of separate states. The efforts made by the Armenia national committee will soon result in the opening of the trade-economic representative office of California in Yerevan.
