PACE RAPPORTEUR SUGGESTED NOT TO RECOGNIZE ARMENIAN DELEGATION AUTHORITIES IN ASSEMBLY

Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) rapporteur Bernard Schreiner presenting the returns of the parliamentary election in Armenia at an Assembly sitting proposed not to recognize the authorities of the PACE Armenian delegation. As reported by “Liberty” radio station, the proposal was made “taking into account the amount and the seriousness of transgressions in the course of the election.” The bill of the European observers’ report consisting of 53 items and 6 enclosures notes the case with former head of PACE Armenian delegation, chairman of the parliamentary commission on external relations Hovhannes Hovhannisian, who withdrew candidacy the very election day as a sign of protest. The PACE rapporteur addressed the Assembly Bureau suggesting to discuss the issue of sending a group of experts to Armenia to hold observations during the post-election period.
