Special representative of Iran for Caspian affairs Mehdi Safari stressed the importance of transporting Turkmen gas to Armenia through the territory of Iran. “Mediamax” agency reports the Iranian diplomat said this in Ashghabad upon completion of the meeting with President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov. The meeting was devoted to the questions of preparation of the Iranian President’s coming visit to Turkmenistan, in the course of which the opportunity of building the gas pipeline to Armenia is expected to be considered.
