PACE REPORTER ON NAGORNO KARABAKH ISSUE SECOND SOUTH CAUCASUS VISIT TERMS TO BE DISCUSSED IN STRASBOURG

Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) reporter on Nagorno Karabakh issue Terry Davis’s second visit terms to the region of Karabakh conflict will be discussed by the Armenian party in Strasbourg. Head of the Armenian delegation in PACE Armen Rustamian who will participate in the regular sitting of the Assembly in Strasbourg June 23 told “Arka” agency. In his words, according to the previous agreement the reporter’s visit to Armenian, Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh was planned for this July. However, A. Rustamian noted that the recent events in Azerbaijan and the work of the OSCE Minsk group chairmen on the elaboration of new proposals for the conflict settlement did not register any special activation on this issue. “The PACE reporter coordinates his work and plans with the co-chairmen, and probably the visit terms will be postponed”, – he said. Besides, A. Rustamian pointed out that Davis intended to run for the CE Secretary General. The Armenian parliamentarian added that during 2 years after his appointment the reporter had either to present his report or to explain why he had not done it and prolong the terms for its preparation. In his words, Davis’s terms expire in October.
