Armenia’s 2010 draft budget envisages AMD 1 billion reduced expenses in sports sphere, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Armen Grigoryan told today a news conference in Yerevan. “Budgetary allocations in the sphere will next year comprise AMD 3 billion 894 million instead of last year’s AMD 4 billion 187 million, but hopefully we’ll succeed in all our plans,” Minister said.
There is a separate program on funding Armenian sportsmen’s participation in 2010 Winter Olympics, Black Sea Youth Olympics due in Singapore, as well as Grand Prix Target Competitions due in Armenia.
It is planned to make budgetary allocations in the amount of AMD 50 million for awarding coaches and World and European champions. RA President has established scholarships for Olympic winners, as well as coaches and assisting team.
