The Armenian-Turkish Commission for reconciliation stops functioning. Armenian Assembly of America ex-director has stated this. According to the information reported by the AAA Yerevan office, non-constructive position of Turkey’s representatives in the commission and inactivity of Turkey’s leadership made for this. Ros Vardanian has emphasized that the AAA understands and supports the decision of the Armenian representatives in the commission for reconciliation not to participate in the commission work. It should be reminded that Armenian-Turkish commission for reconciliation stopped functioning 2001 December after the Turkish part separately had appealed to the International Center for transitional justice with a request not to consider the issue of accordance of 1915 events in Ottoman Turkey and the UNO Convention on genocide. Whereas before that, the two sides had appealed to the center with a joint statement on the consideration of that issue.
