EDWARD JEREJIAN APPOINTED US PRESIDENT ADMINISTRATION ADVISORY COMMISSION CHAIRMAN

US distinguished political figure of Armenian origin, ambassador Edward Jerejian is appointed to the post of the chairman of the new commission to consult Bush administration on the issues concerning public diplomacy and programs regarding the Arab and Moslem world. According to the US State Department’s report the candidature of Jerejian, now occupying the post of the director of the research center named after Jeremy Becker in the Rice University, was suggested by US State Secretary Colin Powell. As the report runs, Jerejian’s great experience and knowledge played an important role in the process of the Arab-Israel conflict settlement, in the creation of coalition headed by the US after Iraq’s incursion into Kuwait, in the cessation of the civil war in Lebanon, in the liberation of American hostages in the country, in the activity for providing collective and bilateral security in the Persian Gulf region.
