TBILISI TAKES MEASURES TO NORMALIZE SITUATION ON GEORGIAN-ARMENIAN BORDER

Vice-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Chairman of the Armenian-Georgian inter-parliamentary commission Vakhtang Kolbaya commissioned the chiefs of the road police, customs and frontier service to take measures to normalize the situation on the Armenian-Georgian border. “Mediamax” agency reports this. According to the testimony of deputy of Georgian Parliament Van Bayburt, having crossed the Georgian boundary, citizens of Armenia become a money-grubbing target for corrupt Georgian officials, which in turn tells extremely negatively on the relations between the two countries. The functionaries also create problems for transporting Armenian loads through the Georgian territory. Bayburt also noted that “these questions were raised by the Armenian side during Georgian Parliament Speaker Nino Burjanadze’s visit to Yerevan at the turn of the previous year.
