Because of the explosion of the 10 block of Gardaban thermoelectric power station that supplied Tbilisi’s half with energy, Georgia’s President Eduard Shevarnadze has declared a state of emergency in the country’s energy system. The country’s head called the plant failure a tragedy for the country. Shevardnadze considers possible that the explosion is a result of diversion though, according to his words, the experts mainly think the cause of the catastrophe was the failures of the operating practices. Due to occurrence, a decision to increase the energy import volume from Russia and Armenia has been made.
