ARMENIAN-RUSSIAN AGREEMENT DRAFT ON DEBT SETTLEMENT ACCORDING TO “DEBTS IN EXCHANGE FOR INVESTMENTS” FORMULA IS READY

The Russian side has passed the draft of the agreement on the transfer of the shares of several Armenian industrial enterprises to the Russian part in exchange for payment of state debt. The matter concerns the formula “the debts in exchange for investments”. As ‘Arka” reports the draft has been passed after the talks between Vladimir Putin and Robert Kocharyan in the Kremlin. According to Russia’s government vice Prime Minister, the co-chairman of the intergovernmental committee for economic cooperation Ilya Klebanov, the Presidents of Russia and Armenia set a problem ” to bring the agreement draft to the signing as soon as possible”. Klebanov has informed that a working group was in Armenia where they were engaged in the assessment of the assets, particularly, generating supplies and energy distributing nets. Besides the Presidents of Armenia and Russia discussed the issues on cooperation in gas industry and power engineering. “We are satisfied with the done work but we realize it is necessary to make further steps faster”, stated Klebanov.
