Scott Lawton suffered a brutal third-round stoppage against Armenian Leva Kirakosyan to end his dream of lifting the vacant European Super Featherweight Crown at Fenton Manor.
The former English lightweight champion was floored in the opening seconds of the first round but the fight didn't end after that. Lawton survived the round, but Kirakosyan continued the onslaught in the second round, going to work on both the body and head. At one point Lawton was almost out on his feet in the corner after being caught with yet another destructive hook. In the final few seconds of the second round a concussive left hook rattled Lawton who was given a standing eight-count. Once again, he survived, but it only proved to be a stay of execution. Just 21 seconds into the third round Kirakosyan's decisive right hook rocked Lawton who slumped back on to the ropes, The Sentinel reported.
