Today Georgia’s Parliament Nino Burjanadze, who is in Yerevan with an official visit, had a speech at the Armenia’s National Assembly. “The fact that my first visit as the head of legislative power is paid to Armenia is the continuation of the good traditions that were established with my predecessors”, state Burjanadze in her speech. She said that Armenia and Georgia were two Christian states that had helped each other to maintain their religion and the originality for centuries. Nino Burjanadze assured her Armenian colleagues of that “Georgia will never take steps that will cause damage to Armenian national defense”. “We are ready to assist you to settle the contradictions with Turkey and Azerbaijan with which Georgia has friendly relations. And Armenia, having strategic partnership with Russia, might help Georgia to settle problems that it has with Moscow because of “Pankiyskoye gorge”. Nino Burjanadze stated with sorrows about Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental committee inactivity. She informed that at the visit the measures that would enable to activate their activities had been discussed. According to her, the development of mutually beneficial economic cooperation will help to sign bilateral agreement on free trade.
