TURKISH INITIATIVE CONCERNING MEETING ANKARA REPRESENTATIVE WITH US ARMENIAN COMMUNITY PURSUED NO SECRET OBJECTS, TURKISH FOREIGN MINISTER STATED

Turkey did not pursue any secret objects speaking out with the initiative of the meeting of Turkish diplomat Ecevit Tezcan with the representatives of leading Armenian organizations in the US. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, Turkish foreign minister Abdullah Gul stated when commenting, by the request “Anatolia” Turkish agency, on the statement of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) about inadmissibility of conducting meetings of such character. It should be noted that according to the early statement of the ANCA leadership, conducting of such meetings is advantageous for Turkish government only, which is aspired to avoid responsibility for the crimes committed in the past. By means of such meetings Turkey attempts to mislead the US official representatives, supposing that the importance of the Armenian Genocide recognition issue will be noticeably undervalued the light of “immediate dialogue with Armenians”.
