ARMENIA TO PARTICIPATE IN JOINT EXERCISES OF CIS AIR DEFENSE TROOPS

Armenian air defense detachments together with those of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will participate in the military maneuvers to be held June 15 – August 29 within “Combat Cooperation – 2003” joint maneuvers of air defense troops of the CIS countries. As deputy commander of Russian air defense forces, lieutenant general Yui Bondarev told “Interfax” agency, the maneuvers will be held in Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Bondarev noted that in the course of the maneuvers it is planned to coordinate joint actions of using air defense units during anti-terrorist operations and local armed conflicts within the scope of the Treaty on Collective Security.
