Chief of general staff of the Russian Armed Forces Anatoly Kvashnin has completed his visit to Yerevan. In the course of the negotiations with the leadership of the Defense Ministry of Armenia the prospects of creating joint Russian-Armenian forces were discussed among other questions. Chief of general staff of Armenian Armed Forces, lieutenant general Mikayel Harutyunian stated it at a press conference today. In his words, formation of joint forces will let “strengthen defensive potential of CIS in the southern direction.” Let us remind that September 14 on completion of Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov’s visit to Yerevan, Armenian Defense Minister Serge Sargsian stated corresponding protocols on creation of joint armed units had been signed.
