Plenipotentiary representative of the Russian president in the Southern Federal District (SFD) Viktor Kazantsev is arriving in Armenia today on a three-day visit. As reported by “Novosti” Russian agency, the visit will take place on the invitation of the Armenian prime minister and aims at activation of economic cooperation between the SFD of Russia and Armenia, the annual commodity turnover between which makes some $13 million today. In the opinion of Russian economists, such a situation meets the real potential of interregional cooperation. In the course of the negotiations Victor Kazantsev will have with top officials of the republic the issue of development of the transport corridor Armenia-Iran-the Caspian-Astrakhan region of Russia will specifically be touched on, as well as the opportunity of realization of the project of a sea train-ferry crossing between Poti Georgian port and “Caucasus” Russian port.
