THE MEMBERS OF THE ARMENIAN-TURKISH COMMISSION FOR RECONCILIATION HAVE STATED WITH ANSWER TO CRITICISM CONCERNING THEM

A group of the representatives of the Armenian-Turkish commission for reconciliation, which has been recently set up, has stated with the answer to the document spread by a number of parliamentary unions of Armenia, where the commission activity is criticized. Ex-foreign minister, “Armenian National Movement” party leader Alexander Arzumanyan, ex-ambassador of Armenia in Syria David Ohanisian, chairman of committee of directors of Armenian Assembly of America Van Krkoryan and Russian political science expert Andranik Migranyan undersigned it. In the statement it is specifically said, “It is not unexpected for us the criticism of a number of Armenia’s parties.
We hope they will examine all their approaches again and let us work. We state this is an historic commission. Genocide certainty is not a question to discuss that is internationally recognized fact. It is obvious that legal, moral and political questions, that arose as a result of this fact need rational and constructive discussions, and the absence of the direct dialog makes the situation even worse. The international recognizing of the genocide is very important and every country must introduce its official decision regarding this question. We agree that the real reconciliation can not be without genocide recognizing by Turkish people”…
“We are sure that the commission activity is the first step, that will be an example for the unification of such attempts in order to analyze the past and improve the future”, is said in the statement.
