On October 8, the Armenian football team defeated Slovakia 3:1 in an UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier in Yerevan. Yura Movsisyan, Gevorg Ghazaryan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the Armenian team goals. Vladimir Weiss Junior, son of the Slovakian team coach, scored Slovakia’s goal.
Chief Coach of the Armenian team Vardan Minasyan thanked fans of Armenia after the match. “The result corresponds to the teams’ performance. We have surpassed our rival in all aspects. A good football is the most important thing for us. I do not think of the place we will gain in the group. Now our team believes that we can show a good football,” said Minasyan.
The Armenian team will rival Andorra in the next match due October 12 in Yerevan. Minasyan thinks that this match will be much more difficult, as any result, but for victory, will be considered a bad one.
After the victory Armenia is the 4th in Group B with 4 points. Ireland, Slovakia and Russia have 6 points each.
