US CONGRESSMEN INTEND TO APPEAL TO GEORGE BUSH CONCERNING THE PROBLEM OF LAYING THE OIL PIPELINE THROUGH THE TERRITORY OF ARMENIA

. The American Congressmen Joe Knollenberg, Frank Palown, Joseph Krowly and John Sviny, who are for participation of Armenia in the regional energetic project, intend to address a message to the US President. According to the information given to “Mediamax” agency by the Armenian National Committee of America, in their message to President Bush the Congressmen intend to express their disturbance about the fact, that the means of the American taxpayers may be used in Caspian oil export projects, which exclude the participation of Armenia. “We encourage the initiative of Knollenberg, Palown, Krowlin and Svin and welcome their activity. Armenia plays a key role in the region and it can make significant contribution to the development of the energetics of the region, particularly, in the context of Baku-Jeyhan oil pipeline,” – Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of America Aram Hamparian has stated.
On June 14 Joe Knollenberg, Frank Palown, Joseph Krowly and John Sviny came out with a Resolution project, which said: “USA should not contribute to construction of pipelines, the economic durability of which is doubtful and which hinders inclusion of Armenia in regional economic cooperation”. The Resolution also calls upon the US Trade Development Agency to discuss the opportunity of laying Baku-Jeyhan oil pipeline through the territory of Armenia.
