. Foreign financial operations subcommittee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress has approved of the bill on rendering financial aid to Armenia in amount of 82,5 million dollars this year. Compared with the previous year’s the amount of aid was curtailed by 7,5 million. At the same time the amount approved by the subcommittee is by 12,5 million more than the one recommended by Bush’s Administration. The final voting on the bill will take place in Senate after the end of the Parliamentary recess.
The Armenian national committee of America has expressed its dissatisfaction with the decision made. ANCA has called upon the Armenians living in USA to address the subcommittee a request on not reducing the amount of financial aid to Armenia. According to the information given by “Mediamax” agency, the committee has kept the validity of the 907-th amendment to the “Freedom support Act”, which outlaws the Administration to render economic aid to Azerbaijan until it continues blocking Armenia and Nagorny Karabakh.
